Did you know there is a sustainable source of funding which benefits Catholic college students in Gainesville? Since 2006 the Catholic Foundation has partnered with St. Augustine Catholic Church and Student Center to provide sustainable financial support for the good works of this parish and its ministries.
The Catholic Foundation endowment holds four restricted funds which collectively benefit Catholic college students in Gainesville through various programs:
- St. Augustine Catholic Church Restricted Fund
- Stephen O’Connell Catholic Gators Scholarship Restricted Fund
- UF Campus Ministry Alpha Retreat Restricted Fund
- Caroline Sandow Alpha Retreat Scholarship Restricted Fund
Meghan Miller, a UF graduate (masters in 2019 and undergraduate in 2018), said, “When I first went to the University of Florida, I was a bit overwhelmed. A friend invited me to a Catholic Gators retreat, and it ended up being amazing. I found a fun group of people to spend time with who also shared my values.” Meghan’s sister and fellow Gator graduate, Maria Miller (UF class of 2021), shared, “Through Catholic Gators events, such as the Alpha retreat and Newman dinners, I found a community of like-minded students and made some of my closest friends.”
Are you looking for ways to give back and support other Catholic Gator students? We invite the Gator Nation to support these restricted funds of the Catholic Foundation endowment. Your gifts, combined with others, grow these funds and provide annual disbursements, ensuring these beautiful ministries continue.
Please join us in giving thanks to the many faith-filled donors whose gifts help college students stay connected to their faith and the Eucharist while they are away from home.
